Keeping it Simple

Here's 5 things you definitely know you're back in school, more specifically, SMU.

1. When you start over-promising people and end up having conflicting times like going to meet my uncle at his place for dinner AND agree to meet wa tang and Jiang for dinner too. Or, agreeing to met Rach for lunch tomorrow and promising to turn up for arts fest meeting at 12.15p.m. Having both clique meeting and OCD project meeting at 7p.m tomorrow. Genius Stacey, well done indeed. And somehow, squeeze private time with Jiang after all this is over to get a well-deserved break on friday.

2. When you've been puzzled by the fact that everyone arounds you is so dressed up, skirts are shorter, tops are tighter, accessories are much more flashier and the make up heavier and you then realize that it is because you have indeed been spending too much time with your boyfriend who wears berms and slippers to school (NUS, nuff said) and you're just simply not used to the fact that SMUians (or singaporeans if you have just returned from a prolonged stay in hong kong) are just generally like that... which accounts for my zara top, white g2000 slacks, dressy earrings and shades today. (oh yes, and heels too)

3. When you are in the library studying on the first day of school because you know from past experience that catching up on readings is NEVER a fun thing to do and it NEVER ends and you ALWAYS have to do it ALL THE TIME. It just piles and piles.. (my golden advice to all the freshies out there is start doing them the minute you can breathe freely)and even though you have been committing your free hours to those damn books, it just isnt enough and you just re-adjust and add on to your calendars and daily planners every day.

4. When you get irritated everyday because of some stupid remark that someone in class has made (no doubt made by those who have just entered school... tsk) or that people (most likely the same ones) are making noises in a library where people are catching up on those DAMN readings!! something they should be doing too...like now... At the same time, you get so self couscious every minute because you know in a small community like SMU, you are bound to meet people you know every 2 minutes which just makes you wanna watch the way you behave and act and talk.... (Are the same-people realizing that they are on my black-listed list now?!?!?)

5. When you've been in school for so long... like 3 years... and looking at the younger people do the stuff you used to be so eager in doing and thinking...oh.. how.. stupid... i must have looked... why... did.. i... do... it? And then frowning because your current boyfriend is gonna go through the same cycle now and it's going to be either a very silly-ly entertaining two years or a very exasperated two years for you.. oh yes.. it most certainly is...
