A farmer did not know what profession he should choose for his son. One day, in order to orient himself, he gave a Bible, an apple, and a coin to the boy. The farmer thought: If the boy eats the apple, he will be a garderner; if he reads the Bible, he will serve to be ecclesiastic; and if he puts the money in his pocket, he will be a merchant. Some time later, the farmer found the boy seated on the Bible, with the money in his pocket, and eating the apple. "Aha," said the farmer, "a clever boy. He has the makings of a politician."
