damn tired,,,

Congratulations Stacey...

you have finally inaugurated yourself and rightfully earn the title of Singapore Management University Citizenship. After passing through many successive tests, we are proud to pronounce you and welcome you into our overworked-tired-not-too-happy-grouchy family which are characterized by our distinctive "eyebags, sour frown, sloppy attire, rumpled hair and brooding silences".

Our family have been a dominant breed in the domain on SMU and it is mostly composed of people who do not possess any life other than schoolwork and has dedicated their ENTIRE being and energy to their single-most-addicted obsession: schoolwork. Indeed, it is the only thing we pride ourselves in and im sure you have, like us paraded and strutted your works or art in front of others many times. We derive our sense of satisfaction from the oohs and aahs from others and of course, not to mention, seeing that well-deserved A at the end of term reflecting in our report card. There are those moments where that distinction seems to elude us, but no matter, it still does not dampen our desire to overwork ourselves and whip ourselves into a frenzy come next semester.

We are well-prepared homo sapiens, by that i mean we prepare our exams at least a month in advance, come to class prepared with the required readings done, fulfil our note taking obligations and never pass a moment to open our mouth and participate in class to squeeze out whatever class particiaption points there may be. Some call us pathetic losers, we simply term ourselves as "driven individuals".

We notice that you have fulfilled most of the requirements needed to join our growing population and we certainly need more students of such "calibre". You have managed to juggle 5 exams last term, all of which are worth more than 40% of the grade and you have super ceded yourself this term by taking a whopping 7 classes, 6 modules, 5 mid terms, 4 presentations, 4 reports, 3 finals, 2 internship applications, and 1 TA class. The committee of overworked-tired-not-too-happy-grouchy students applaud you on such deserving qualities and achievement. You have certinaly showed the least love to yourself than ANY of us. Well done!

Moreover, you have on many occasions this term stayed back past midnight, return unflinchingly to school on weekends to slog over revisions and projects. Tonight, you have passed the acid test of pulling an all-nighter due to one of our favourite modules: CAT (Computer as an Analysis Tool). Excellent work! enclosed is our application form, we do feel that you have much to offer our society and see you as the epitome of our kind. We need more like you. Please reply and we await your respond.

Regards,
Society of the "how you can be a winner and loser at the same time"
