Sandcastle
With unhurried and delicate movements she sweeps the sand,
In her heart shaped hands, some spills,
Fallen through the gaps she could not cover.
And yet she persists.
Back bent, she gingerly repeats,
First a mountain of gold is formed
She smiles, and molds it into a wall
Sprinkling water to keep it from crumbling
The sun beats down her neck and shoulders,
Her brows are wet and still she carries on.
She casts more walls,
The castle is beginning to take shape
The wind blows, her dress billows
Her hair catches the breeze
She runs in front of the wind,
With arms open, she defends her fortitude
The wind stills, she resumes
With precision she carves windows and doors
She build bridges and a moat around
Even penciling out the bricks in the towers
A current of air sweeps through,
Her legs are damp,
The tide has come,
Her home is gone.
