I talked to Jiang on skype last night... and he was getting quite annoyed by the whole NUS CORS bidding thing, something similar to SMU BOSS system...

He was surfing through the NUS websites and trying to look for information... Perhaps its cause im so used to SMU system and i try to find things that are similar to what SMU has so i can understand it better... and when i cant, i get slightly annoyed too...

After some probing and questioning only to find that Jiang is as unclear as i am on this issue, i stopped myself before we both got too irritated...

He was surfing through endless websites, double checking and cross referencing and then he snapped, "im not going to look at it anymore tonight, im getting irritated."

It dawned on me for the first time... how much i admire my sis...

A little incongrous maybe, but Jiang's the oldest child in his family and he's the first undergrad now and he's completely new to university life. He has to fiugre alot of things on his own and well, my sis is like that too right?

Jiang went through army so he still has female friends who can guide him through NUS and help him along the way... but my sis... she didnt had anyone did she? Alot of things was through trial and error and alot of things had to be self taught... Maybe i can figure out why some people say the oldest child always end up being more successful than the second or third (a probable thesis paper for me next term) but i also know alot of people who are in SMU who are the oldest and who still struggles every BOSS 1A,B,2,2A,2B round.

I think it takes a little more than who comes first, and more of something my profs like to call... practical intelligence. So i salute my sis, who has come thus far, on her own, surviving on her own smarts. She didnt had anyone to guide her when she first entered uni, or anywhere else for that matter and on top of that, she still passed on her university skills to me...

ok.. maybe not alot of university skills since i remember she has been quite adamant about leaving me on my own to fend for myself... but i guess to me... she's my safety net cause i know she will definitely help me when i am really clueless about something and she will definitely have some advice to give on an issue. And even her enforced "fend-for-yourself-stace" method made me learn how to resource on my own and develop my own strategy for uni life...

So thanks Jie, for being my senior when i was a freshmen, for being my career advisor when im looking for an internship, for being my academic counsellor when i was choosing my major, for giving me project management guidance and of course being a study mate with me (though im awfully glad u didnt pass me ANY of your study skills...) providing me with excuses and reasons as to why i need to take a break from studying now and then (you lazy sneak...haha). I'm glad i had someone to show me the ropes, even more glad that its you.

Cheers,
Stace
