guys and bottles

So i came to office today and as some may know, my office is entirely made up of females... and Hong Kong females are thin and small and just demure... There are only two guys in the office... one is a technician who comes in just before lunch and the other is some sort of office personnel that travels from this office to another one far away... i hardly see them, much less talk to them.

Anyway, i bought my usual breakfast meal which is muffin and a bottle of orange juice. After many many tries in opening the bottle, it just wouldnt budge! im serious... all right, so fellow colleagues took pity on my plight and all tried to lend a helping hand by giving the bottle a go... After about three of four women, the damn bottle's still unopened... heh... "how many women does it take to unscrew the cap eh?"

And no... we wont turning it the WRONG way... it was the correct way ok.

So along comes our technician and after fixing a problem with the server on one comp, i asked him to help me open my bottle... ho ho ho... with a flex of a muscle here and a little positioning, im now sipping on my 7 bucks orange juice. And what do i see... a constant grin and a look of satisfaction on the technician's face... somewhere along the lines of... "oh yes... the male prevails..."

haha... and i suppose the crowd of women nodding and appluading around him does nothing to dissipate the rising of his ego...

And then there's the oh so familiar guy thing every male does after such feat... simplifying matters... "oh it was nothing, it was very easy, just twist it gently only..." hur hur.

Actually being the "feminist" that i am, i must admit that it must be much easier for him to open it since prior to him coming to the office, i have already used the cutter to clip away the bands and loosen the cap... So, im 50% sure that if i wasnt so exhausted, i might be able to open it myself.

But here's a thought. What if... he doesnt manage to open the damn bottle? What then happens? Actually something similar happened to me before with another irritating bottle and a fairly exasperated guy. I recall asking him to open it and i just stood there looking at him try and try for a good 15 mins.

Well... talk about exasperation. maybe there was something fundamentally wrong with the bottle that causes it to be unopenable. Maybe the guy's just too weak from his exercise to exert the strength needed. Or maybe its the fact that i keep laughing after every failed attempt on his part.

He just kept trying and trying and trying... and guys... oh my goodness... i have no idea how he felt. was he embarrased? was he tired? but he was definitely pissed. And the thing about guys, i've noticed... in my 21 years... ok 20 years of being... is the refusal to give up on something when its so close at hand... So he tried... i dont know what he tried, placing cloth over the bottle, rubbing the neck or something... The bottle prevails this time men...

KO, Game over. i have to admit, the wrestle was interesting to watch, but no where as interesting as the guy's surmounting expression of frustration.

All right. So this is the scenario whereby the bottle wins. What im left with after that... is no drink and a pissed guy. I remember spending a good 40 bucks on treating him to sushi in a bid to pacify him.

The morale of the story? i have absolutely no idea. I think all manufacturers of bottles should deliberately make their bottles hard to open for girls but "openable" to men. That way.. we maintain the "balance" of guys rescuing girls and we have a happier bunch of guys too... Or... as Jiang puts it, we could all just stick to cartons which makes it a hell lot of easier to open ya?

Quite a mindless post this is, but we havent seen one of these for a while have we?
